On October 10, 2014, Prof. Luis Britto Garcia of the Central University of Venezuela gave a comprehensive discussion on Latin America and Caribbean Integration to the students of the University of the Philippines-Manila. The forum was sponsored by UP Manila College of Arts and Sciences, Philippines-Bolivarian Venezuela Friendship Association (PBVFA), La Solidaridad, and International League of People’s Struggle-Philippines (ILPS-Phils).
A small group discussion was held on October 11, 2014 where Prof. Garcia gave a deeper historical analysis of the Latin America and Caribbean Integration. Present in the discussion were leaders of PBVFA, La Solidaridad-Filipinas, Philippines-Cuba Friendship Association (Amistad), Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN or New Patriotic Alliance) and ILPS-Phils. The group also talked about the possibility of deeper solidarity relations between the peoples of the Philippines and Latin America.
After giving a lecture in De La Salle University (DLSU) on October 13, 2014, Prof. Garcia headed to Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City for the Thank-You lunch hosted by the Republic of Bolivarian Venezuela Embassy for their partner organizations who organized the series of discussions.
Another forum was organized in UP Diliman on October 13, 2014 where Prof. Garcia also discussed the same topic, the last of the series of discussions initiated by PBVFA. Also present in the forum was the Brazilian Ambassador Jorge Fernandes who delivered a short message of solidarity.The forum was organized by UP Center for International Studies, La Solidaridad, ILPS-Phils and PBVFA. It was part of the lecture series organized by the UP Center for International Studies.
